I have a 2001 Honda 9.9 four stroke on my 2001 H260. I have the controls on the pedestal and electric start. I would like to know how easy it is to attach engine instruments to it. I went all summer last year without them, but feel I need them soon. I would like a tach, oil pressure light, overheat light and an hour meter. Any one know if this is easily done myself or should I have a dealer do it? I asked the honda rep at a boat show last year, and they said to be careful that a wrong connection could mess up the eclectronics in the engene. Of course they ARE a Honda dealer looking for business. -Jay

Jay, For any instrument you will need the senders

that mount on the motor. Whether or not they are available from after market sources is the question. The gauge supplier might only supply the instrument. Now where do the senders come from? Thus the problem. Should they have both parts then you or any knowledgeable mechanic can mount the system. Or, maybe Honda is the only game with senders and compatable instruments. The choice is down to who installs the system at this point. Ray S/V Speedy
