I have heard that running the motor for long periods at a time is not good.Any truth to this? For example if you wanted to motor a fairly long distance to get to an area you want to sail. Thanks Stewart

Honda 4 stroke

I haven't heard of this problem. I just ran mine for 26 miles continuously at full throttle and haven't experienced any problems, knock on wood. If you hear of any further info, let me know will ya?

Don't believe it

Sounds like BS to me.....did this happen to come from a two stroke user by chance?

Reply to Timm & Scott...

Yes, I did hear it from a two stroke user.Part of the reason I bought this boat & motor was so that I could motor as needed to get somewhere reasonably fast.

Honda 50 Fuel Consumption

Hey Steward, My power boating relatives run the heck out of their 4-strokers in Louisiana salt water marshes without a problem. The related link has a link to someone's fuel consuption experience with a Honda 50 on a MacGregor 26X. Your's may vary. Happy sails _/), MArk

If there is, I don't know

Steward, Forgive the recursive logic, but you're welcome. People try all kind of things to get better performance from their motors. On the link below, they added a wedge to move the motor/propeller further away from the hull. This allowed them to raise the motor while improving bite by being in water less disturbed by the hull. At least I think. Another trick: I've heard the Honda factory suggest cupped propeller blades. Maybe somebody here uses one and can tell if it really helps. Happy Mardi Gras _/), MArk
