Hunter 31 1987 Fly Creek Marina Fairhope,AL.
after 5 yrs of enjoyment in my H-30 ,,, have decided to seek more room for extended crusing. In my area their are a few options if staying with a hunter which i am comfortable with.

1. H-33.5 1989 vintage yanmar engine unseen yet.

2. Vision 32 Yanmar engine 1989 unseen yet

3. H-31 1987 vintage in excellent condition. loaded with electronics and equiptment.

4. H-34 1983/1984 vintage unseen yet.

use will be 2 - 5 day trips along guilf coast / ICW.

possibly longer given the extra room and comfort.

Any input apreciated.

Thanks

boat less person... lol

I owned a 1981 Hunter 33. Replaced it with 1990 Hunter 33.5. The difference is amazing! The older 33 may have gone a little faster if you are into racing, but the 33.5 has so much more room in the cabin. When I first saw the 33.5 interior, I thought it was a magic trick. How do they get that much more room in a boat only 1/2 foot longer? The answer is that it has a slightly wider beam and more free-board. I love my 33.5 and am always getting compliments about her.

Thanks Ken,
I am leaning toward the 33.5 becuase of price. It is priced well below average retail value but i havent gained access to her to check her out.

The 31 i looked at was impecable and well maintained but more $$ $5000.00 more "

plus i like the aft berth as it is one of the things iom looking for aas well as more salon room.

Fair winds and fair tides.

Chuck...

with over 1,200 H34's built, there are a lot to choose from. From all I can determine, the later 1983 models were the highpoint, with cost cutting affecting the latter years in little ways (not to mention the compression post issue iin '84 - '87's).

Compared to its smaller sister, the H31, the differences are well worth the cost difference. And, as you'll find on the Big Boat forum, almost any problem you may encounter is probably well documented.

The newer version in the form of the H33.5 is a different animal with much going for it. It's a matter of taste and viewpoint of the appearance and technology changes made. The Vision models also have a fairly good following as well.

Have fun with your decision makeing and good luck!
