This is not so much a question, as a suggestion in which you can make your own Barbeque stand for your boat. I hope it may be of help to those thinking about a safe way to operate a barbeque on board a boat, and who don't want to spend a zillion pounds (or dollars) on buying one. It works well !

another tip

HI Ken, great website! I will probably use the ginpole idea myself! Thanks... As far as the BBQ grill goes...I was in "Lowes" (A home improvement store) today looking at their grills...They have a nice sized stainless steel propane model for $97.00 US. It is ALL stainless, and has legs that fold up and fastens like a suitcase to store. I am seriously considering this one for my V22. Your bicycle gooseneck idea is brilliant! I believe the grill at Lowes is sturdy enough to have one or two stainless goosenecks welded to the bottom to facilitate easy and secure mounting to the rail. We will see... ;) Skip

Disposable BBQ?

You indicate that in order not to carry charcoal and lighter fluid you use the prepacked ones. These things burn for hours so what do you do, dump it overboard when done? We try to protect our waters here in the US. I have a Force 10 gas grill I picked up at a marine flea market for $20. Got there late as the man sold a windlass for $25.

Disposal

Perhaps you didn't read all the text as towards the end I made it clear there is plenty of sea water around to cool it off,so it can be put in a rubbish bag within minutes of use. I noted the comment about trying to protect the waters of the US. Hmmm..some of the things I have seen in certain areas of the US would indicate not everyone is as conscientious as you 8:) But more power to you in your efforts.

I would hardly consider burned charcoal briquettes to be an environmental issue even if they did fall in the water. Of FAR greater issue would be the holding tanks and fuel that are dumped on a daly basis. Ken, looks like you used a little ingenuity and made an easily portable answer. Nice work. :)

Benny, Apparently you have never

seen the load of flotsam that comes down the river during and after a heavy rainstorm. We are in a marina on the Susquehanna River and get to watch a wonderful display of mother nature at work after every major rain storm.
