Hunter 26 Illinois
All,
Learned a new term today. While working on our Hunter 26 with the mast down I noticed that the jib halyard sheave box was broken!!! Called US Spars and bought a new “sheave box” also known as an “exit box”. Who knew? I get the sheave part, but didn’t know what the plastic housing was called. If that plastic part breaks away from the mast while raising the mast and cuts the line!!!!! Or, breaks off and now I can’t raise the jib! Well, either one is a problem. So check yours the next time your mast is down. My new one is on the way from US Spars.

I've replaced mine before. Its nerve racking lowering the mast to replace that broken piece.

How do you fasten the new one to the mast? Those look like rivets holding the old one. How did you get the old rivets out?

You drill them out. As they are most likely stainless steel, drill slowly as not to damage your drill bit. Use a carbide drill bit.
