I have been thinking of having a 105% genoa for my Hunter 31. My sail maker wants to cut the sail with a hollow leach and install roller battens, ( I have roller furling ) The idea is to have the sail more open at the top. This sail is primarily for racing on windy days. Does anyone have any expierience with this set up?

I've seen that done, and it gives you more area down low (less heeling force) as well as opening the slot-too much leach high up can backwind the main. My new jib is also cut with a hollow leach, in part because of the mechanics of getting a bigger jib on a 356 (struts plus stays in the way. Check carefully on those roller battens-around here they are illegal for PHRF racing, and you can't just pull them out
