I have a 2002 Hunter 306 and am trying to install a speaker pod in the overhead stainless arch. I followed the archived posts on drilling into the aft starboard tube from the locker to find an access hole in the plate the tube is welded to. After several pilot holes which hit the stainless plate....I dont believe I have an access hole. Does anyone have knowledge of there being an access hole on a 306? Could it be on the port side? Thanks...

Give hunter or your local hunter distributor a call, they should be able to answer that for you. On my 44DS the access hole is on the forward starboard tube. The 306 could very well be different as it's a smaller arch. Which side of the boat does the electrical run on? I would think the hole would be on the same side.

Sorry to tell you the bad news but no holes and you will need to drill all of your own and not easy but I did it.
I did drill a hole on the starboard side because that's what side the radio is on and made for a short run for speaker wires.
It's been a while since I did it on my 2001 290 which same boat as 306 but I am thinking it was slow and easy drilling a hole at the bottom plate and another hole at top where speaker pod which I got from Hunter and than using a snake wire for the wiring,go very slow drilling and start small and change size of drill often going one next size at a time.
I think I used a angle drill at the bottom plate.

Thanks Guys.....Interestingly enough the hole in the stainless plate leading into the tube is in the front tube port side. I was suprised as everything in the archives says otherwise. Hunter upon checking notes said try the front tube port side and voila easy through. After a few attempts trying to drill from locker into the starboard side aft tube and a mishap ....I was happy to find that there was a hole on the port side.
