My Perkins motor leaks...somewhere. I suspect, with my luck, that the block might be cracked. It leaks all the water out of it. I put some bars-all in it yesterday, but it was too hot to refill and try to see if it works. Can a motor be braised or welded to stop a water leak...if that is the problem?

Cracked block?

Letterman, Are you sure the block is cracked? Check the frost plug (if any), head gasket, engine drain plug, Zinc anode, water pump and thermostat housing. If its raw water cooled, try to connnect a bucket of food color or ink dyed water. If fresh water cooled, try the automotive antifreeze plus check the circulation pump. I believe you are in Ohio. Do you winterize the engine? Sorry cracked blocks can't be fixed.

It appears to leak only under pressure. There is no water in the crankcase. It might be the radiator? cap. It might be the thermostat, if they have one.
