Hi all
I have just discovered that the holding tank on my hunter 310 needs replacing. The input hose connection has started to tear out from the tank. Fortunately the tank is empty!!

My question is where to find a new tank. The current one is fits under the port settee and the bottom is angled to fit the side of the hull. Any other 310 owners had to deal with this?

Thanks
Tim

Ronco Plastics (no relation to the VegoMatic Ronco, btw) Ronco Plastics Marine Catalog is your best source...they make TOP quality water and waste tanks for a very reasonable price and have more than 400 shapes and sizes, over 100 of which are non-rectangular (which means you might be able to fit a larger one in the same space), and they install fittings in the sizes and locations specified by the customer when they make the tank. Delivery time is about two weeks including time in transit.

The original tank was made by Dura Cast. They say they can make me a new one - same as the old one. Does anyone have any experience with Dura Cast?

Thanks

An identical "plug and play" replacement can definitely simplify the job, and Duracast builds a decent tank. But it's important to remember that OEM tanks are made to the boat builders' specs, and production builders have always tried to spend as little as possible for their OEM tanks, which can result in some really thin-walled tanks that flex and bulge if not fully supported on all sides. Otoh, Ronco tanks are 3/8" and corners are reinforced. So I'd ask Duracast what both their "identical replacement" wall thickness and their current "standard" thickness is, and request a quote for 3/8" if it's ANY thinner. Builders don't always spec fittings in the best locations either...so ask what if anything they'll charge you to specify fittings sizes and locations (e.g. a 1" vent and both inlet and vent fitting where it will prevent tank contents spilling into those lines...I'll be glad to help you chose the locations).

Meanwhile, I suggest you check the Ronco catalog for one that'll work and compare the price when you get one from DuraCast.

Thanks Peggy
The Dura-Cast replacement is .25" so I have asked them for availability in 3/8". Also, I would like to have the pump out from the top of the side of the tank with an internal pickup to the bottom. Barring that I could probably live with a PVC pipe connection at the bottom of the tank instead of the hose barb. Also, I think an inspection port would be useful for thorough cleaning from time to time.

I'm a big fan of yours as thanks to you, I now have a boat with no odours!! It wasn't always that way.

If possible, I'd put the discharge fitting (and also the vent fitting) ON the top of the tank, with a pickup tube inside, 'cuz putting 'em on the side reduces the useable capacity several flushes. If you want to talk about fittings in detail, send me a PM.
