Holding tank smell while flushing

Peggy,I have owned my boat for 5 years and just this season the holding tank has developed an exceptionally bad odor from the vent when flushing?I flush with fresh water from a designated tank.Is there something I can rinse the holding tank with to cut the odor. It's rather embarrassing at raft-ups. Paul

I bought a vent filter. Works great. Last about a year or two.SH

Smelly

Pump out (flush out the HT by filling with fresh water, and pumping it out) before heading out, and/or flush the head a few times if the tank is empty to put some new air into the tank.I wouldn't recommend a vent line filter.
