My holding tank gauge stopped working which prompted me to remove and clean(yuchy!!!) the sender which in my boat is a long black plastic tube with smallholes. If it does not work after I replace it, does anyone know who makes this device as I cannot find a name on it. Also, it there a better sending device? Thanks!

Don't even bother to remove it to clean it...

Take Pat's advice and replace it with a Snake River AcuGage--which doesn't have an internal sender...everything is on the outside of the tank. The online store here sells it, you can check it out on the Snake River website: http://www.snake-river.org Dennies Firiello, their sales manager actually answers e-mail questions.

Possibly Made By WEMA

Sounds like the WEMA Systems sending Unit (Part No. SHT-2) I installed on my 30T in 1997 as Hunter was using the WEMA system several years ago. If yours was factory installed suggest Hunter can confirm this. I believe Hunter may have discontinued WEMA use and I would not install it again as mine has never worked properly. If if was me I would take Peggy's advice and replace it.

Wema gauge

I have the same gauge on my boat. It is made by Wema. They also make water tank gauges, volt, amp and all other kind of guages. They have a replacement tube that can be cleaned by back flushing it while it is still installed which I have bought as a spare but not installed yet. For what ever it is worth though, I had to clean mine about every year till I started to squirt a small amount of Dawn dish soap into the tank every time I pumped out. The soap breaks down the oils and seems to prevent the holes from plugging up. I am now on my third year with out a cleaning and it works perfectly. I am very satisfied with the Wema systems will probably put the same in my next boat if and when that ever happens. Do not give up on the wema gauge, it will easily out last the head that pumps the stuff in there.

WEMA USA 954-463-1075 Talk to Deter I ordered the new style sender and gauge P/N SFH-3 (12 3/4 long) with back flushing fitting $43 P/N HTG (gauge) $37 Note: They sell a back flush kit, which hooks to the water supply and includes a shutoff valve. This I did not opt for. The fitting for flushing is still there. You will need to drill new holes. The sender opening have to be enlarged a little as well. I used a dremmel grinding bit. The whole job took less than 1 hour.
