I recently purchased a 1988 H28.5 and was wondering where the head discharge thru hull fitting is located. Is there a manual shutoff valve? The plumbing diagram I have seems to show two bronze thru hull fittings near the head. I believe I only have one (fresh water intake)..

If the boat was originally delivered into...

fresh water,or into any coastal waters that don't have ready access to open sea beyond 3 miles where direct discharge is legal, there prob'ly isn't a toilet discharge thru-hull. The boat was prob'ly set up to discharge only into the holding tank and be pumped out. It's not at all unusual for any boat to be different from the diagrams in the manual. (I went nuts trying to find a "storage" compartment in the companionway on a previous boat...till I finally figured out that my genset was in it.) Builders often make changes during a model year--but aren't about to scrap 10,000 owners manuals...or optional equipment the first owner wanted requires changes, additions or omission of "standard" equipment. Owner's manuals are only a guide, not the bible for your particular hull.

Peggie.. thanks for the info.. The previous owner said the discharge point was "under the boat". It does have a hand operated pump located in the starboard rear locker, and also a pump out point near the diesel intake on the starboard side. Since I'm on a lake, I will be having it pumped out.. but I just wanted to know the location of all the seacocks..
