OD34 holding tank
I installed an 18 gal tank. As I recall the standard was advertised as 15 but measured out at only 12. The extra 6 is helpful but I primarily wanted a tank with all top openings and dip tubes - no side or bottom penetrations and replumbed so no sewage can sit in a hose. The 18 gal tank is mounted under the V-berth. I built and glassed in a custom support on the starboard side and as far forward as I could get it - not centered as the old tank was. That freed up storage space in the V-berth even with a bigger tank. I re-routed the pump out hose (goes to the same deck fitting as before from a dip tube fitting in the tank) so it no longer dips down into the hanging locker. It has no low spot, any sewage drains back into the tank, so no sewage sits in it to permeate and smell. Second dip tube goes to the existing overboard pump and seacock. No Y valve - just 2 outlets from the top of the tank. Also one inlet and one vent fitting on the top. Tank and fittings are all from Dometic - heavy poly. I did have to widen one of the V-berth access holes by about 2" to get the tank in but that is pretty easy to do and refinish. New set up has more volume, no odors, no leaks, left more storage space. I'm happy with it.
