I was reading through the manual for the Selden furling mast on our H41DS and noted that it says:
"The mast extrusion has an additional luff groove for a storm trysail or spare main. In an emergency, even a foresail with rope luff could be hoisted."
The attached scan from the manual depicts the cross section of the mast with the additional luff groove at the bottom.
I would be interested to hear from anyone that has utilized this luff groove.
