Received a Uniden sounder for my 240 for Christmas. It is the "Hockey Puck - shoot through the hull" design. Good. A good place to mount it appears to be just forward of the ballast tank but the angle of the hull here may be just a little too steep. Has anyone else bonded one of these to their inner hull? If so, where? Any advise? Thanks

I DONT CARE WHERE YOU PUT IT BUT MAKE SURE IT IS LEVEL OR CLOSE TO IT. MINE IS A THRU HULLRAYTHEON AND A LITTLE DIRT AND NO READOUT.

Puck Sounder

I have had the above in my boat for three years with no problems. About 10 degrees above horizontal. Also the hull at that location is almost 1" thick.

Works on a H23.5

We've used a shoot thru the hull sounder for several years with no problems. It works to at least 90' at any reasonable angle of heel. I couldn't find any clear spot forward of the ballast tank so it's mounted just aft of the tank under the bunk right on the center line. You can try different locations temporarily by using KY jelly to couple the sound. Mine is mounted with silicone rubber so it's possible to remove it with a razor blade. Ken S/V Wouff Hong

Shooting Through

I have a Raytheon with an in hull transducer mounted in the same spot as Kens (aft of the ballast tank at the centerline) Works great. I was never able to get it to function properly using silicone to mount it, but when I used marine epoxy (included with the transducer) it started working perfectly. I'm not sure about Uniden, but Raytheon makes a special in hull transducer designed to be mounted at somewhat of an angle. They strongly advise against monting the flat type transducer any way but perfectly flat. Good luck. You will wonder how you ever got along without a depth sounder. It is one of the most cost effective accessories you can add in my opinion. Alan Long S/V Random Access (94 23.5)

My 240

I have a Humminbird fish finder/depth finder in my 240. The sounder is mounted under the rear berth just aft of the ballast tank. It is fairly flat there. It works great.

Have to agree with Jeff

I have a Humminbird Depth Sounder and mounted the transducer just aft of the ballast tank under the rear berth (just in front of the bilge pump). Actually, I haven't permanently mounted it yet. I tested that spot using K-Y jelly and duct tape and it's worked so well I just haven't had the time to crawl under there and mount it permanently. I just squirt some more K-Y under it and viola! Of course, I WILL mount it permanently. It's the perfect spot

Survey said, I did....Under aft bunk it went.

Backed by popular experience, I mounted it under the aft bunk. Works perfectly. Thanks guys!
