HIN to Hull Number?

I've got a 1990 Hunter 27. The survey when I bought it in 2009 didn't include one piece of information I've always wondered about, what hull number she is!

The format of the HIN's that I've seen posted elsewhere do not match my HIN so I'm not sure... my HIN is HUNB0324H990, Can anyone decypher / explain the different parts of this for me?

I am no expert but i suspect the first few letters denote Hunter, the 324 is how many of that class were built up to your boat, 324 would appear on your sail if it has markings and the 90 at the end confirms it was built in 1990.

Hm, If I understand that link right then it reads:

HUN - Hunter (that part I knew) | B0324 - Hull # 324, Build started in Sept (1989?) | H990 - (CG?) Certified Mar 9 1990

Anyone find fault in my interpertation there? Seems a long time from Build date to certification date. I thought Hunter pushed them through the line in about 3-4 weeks... this seems to indicate it took 6 months!

Four Points.. are ya sure that is a "B" and not a mangled "27".. Typically, Hunter's numbers were HUN"boat model""serial#" Letter, date..so my 34's number is HUN34815A585.. A Hunter 34, #815, certified on August 5, 1985.

Hunter seems to still be very much open for business.
Contact them directly.
They should be happy to assist an owner, and it's information that's readily available in their database.

That was my thought. . .the "B0" might be a mangled "27". . .

My HIN is the same way. . .model number (33) + hull number (176) = serial number "33176"

If it is not B0, then the registration, and insurance is for the wrong boat! Will post pic later...

The model designator for the older H27 was "50" in the HIN (ie: my 1977 H27 HIN was HUN50422M77B). It may be that the "B0" is a munged "50", but it's more likely that they used "B0" to differentiate the newer design from the previous (Cherubini) model. Just a thought.

Hmmm.. not sure where you got that Mar 9 1990 from :neutral:

Here is what I get from the HIN:

HUNB0324H990

HUN = Hunter
B0 = Model designator (new style H27?)
324 = hull number #324
H = Build month - August
9 = Build year - 1989
90 = Model year - 1990

So, your H27 is a 1990 model, hull #324, built August 1989

Is there any way to see the different owners of the boat? I would like to see what mine had been up to and how many owners it has been through. macw0865e888. It's a 26D. Or is it a 26W? For water ballast?

Some of the owners have posted their HINs in the "Owner Directory". Here is one: HUNB0303C989 . So it would suggest that "B0"(not BO) is legit.
