Hi I am new to this forum. I have a 1977 Catalina 30 and I just moved it from CT to NH. When I tried to register in NH I found out that the registration for CT only had 11 numbers and letters. My boat has been painted and there is not a visible HIN on the starboard transom below the rub line. Is there any other place on the boat that the HIN is completely displayed?

Thanks for your time.

I'm not sure what #'s are missing but mine begin:

CTYN (Catalina yachts - the manufacturer)
6324 (the hull # sequentially produced my case 6324th)
H then the date manufactured.
mine looks like CTYN6324H495. 12 digits
If your hull # is 1,2 or 3 digits say the 100th boat it might be 11#'s.
Can anyone else verify that? I'm curious.

Hull ID Number

For quite awhile, we believed our Catalina 30 had no HIN stamped where it should have been (below the rub-rail on the stbd side of the transom) Determined to find it, I took a flashlight and shined it at a very oblique angle and was able to make out the faintest of impressions. Yours may be like ours. It was much to faint to be seen except in ideal lighting conditions. It may be worth trying that to find your number.

You can disregard the PM....I thought you were looking for the HIN.....then I scrolled up and saw that you weren't the OP.

Pominville....If you have big numbers like that (Starting with "No") use that link I previously posted. Those numbers would be mounted on wood or epoxied to the hull or encgraved somewhere on the boat if it was ever documented. Sometimes you'll find them in the storage area under the settee or under the quarterberth.

Thanks Jack;
Coriolis was indeed documented in Washington, she was on charter with Anacortes Yacht charters until 2006, when she was brought to Horseshoe bay and essentially stored there until I purchased her in 2011. The original charter ad is still online, you can find it when you google catalina 30 pics.
