HIN number Finally installed sunday

Hey all, some may have seen some past posts refering to registrationby me, and questions. I have been trying to get registration of a 1977 documented Jeanneau sailboat.I have no HIN # so NJ was really a bi*ch, step 1 of 15 steps was to send a lien search letter to 5 surrounding states, that was just step 1....Well I checked NY and they had me fill out a request for a title as, if it was homemade seeing there was no title, well I filled out the form a month ago and the Marine Police from the Taconic region of NY, contacted me and we set up a date for yesterday,at Viking Marina, he showed rite on time and dremeled in my HIN # right rear upper quarter, and a second in area known only to the owner and the paperwork...Now I can title and register.......and I live in nj... finally woohoo...Red

Are you SURE there's no HIN? Did you look in all the usual places (most are in the upper transom, exterior, as part of the fiberglass)??

I have had the boat 2 yrs, sailed on it with PO and were never able to find one. The police put my new HIN in the starboard transom, just below rub rail witha dremel, also in a second location. I have redone almost every area of this boat and never came across a HIN #. There is a small plate by the throttle in cockpit, with eng info,type of boat, a four diget # I think Hull production #, 8-10 refers to people occ. Red

Could have just used your own dremel tool and given the number to NJ.
