HIN location?

This is in the category of dumb questions, but could someone tell me where the HIN is located on a C-30? I just purchased a 1978 version, and although I have the number from the survey that I got with the boat, I need a pencil tracing of the number on the boat in order to complete registration in MA. I thought it would be on or around the stern, but... Many thanks, Laurie "Up North"

you are close....

Laurie, check the upper stbd. side of the transom...or more simply; when looking at the stern, the top right hand corner.

Sometimes hard to see

That is correct. Catalina hull numbers are located on the stbd side of the transom just below the rub rail. Even though we knew where to look, it took several tries before we could find ours. It was so faint that we had to shine a light from a very shallow angle in order to see it. I've often wondered if it was legal or okay for me to deepen it with a Dremel tool or something. Anyway, it should be there but you may have to look very hard to see it. Gary

Hand scratched

Catalina hand scratched them in the starboard side under the rubrail as Gary described. If not, get yourself a nail.......
