I had hiking straps on my Catalina 15 and they we a necessity because there are no seats on the Coronado 15, you sit on the gunnel's. I found that with my 170 I was usually sitting on the top of the gunnel's and my legs could not reach the bottom of the cockpit anyway, making straps useless. When sitting on the seat and heeling, the center toe rail was all I needed to keep me up right and in control. Keep it simple if you can. I was always happiest up on the top of the gunnel's.
