I have a problem with falling into the cockpit when sitting up on the very small area of deck while steering my Oday 28. Anyone have a foot bracing idea?

Wheel or tiller? I assume wheel.

The 28 cockpit is not really well designed for aggressive sailing. The tiller (with a good extension) is much better, as you can sit just being the winches where there is room to lean back. The wheel however, crams you back in the corner. Maybe some curved wood strips bolted to the seat lip to help keep your feet in place.

I always preferred to steer from the low side on our 28, partially because of the easier posture and partially because I found the visibility better down there. From the low side I found that holding onto the wheel and bracing against the lifelines was easiest.
