I just wanted to check in with my favorite group of sailors! We are currently in Newport, OR and are getting ready to head down the coast to San Fran in September. We've mainly been working on the boat but we've managed to work in some play, especially hunting for those wily Dungeness crabs! Yum!! We've fixed all the deck leaks & now are working on replacing the old portlights with New Found Metal lights. We are also almost done rebedding all of the stanchions (funny how the hardest ones are the last to be done) and sailtrack mounted on the caprail. Fred is adjusting quite well to liveaboard life with the exception of the running engine and ocean swells. We've been working too much to really get Silent Sun out of the slip very often so it's always scary for him when that engine turns over. We've taken him out on the ocean twice and both times he's lost what little lunch was in his poor tummy! Can you beat that? A seasick boat cat! But he & I will get our sealegs fairly quickly, I'm sure. Other than that, he LOVES the on-the-water lifestyle, especially when it comes to fresh seafood. He absolutely LOVES the nasty gooey gunk that comes out of crabs, fish & clams. BLECK!! You can bet that I don't accept too many kisses from him after that! I have to tell you, if you're at all contemplating moving aboard...DO IT! Once you make the decision, everything else just falls into place. If you end up not liking it, you can always move back ashore - ain't no law against changing your mind! Hope all ya'll are well and enjoying this beautiful summer! See ya on the water!! LaDonna
