Well, we did it. We closed today on the 1990 P42 we have discussed on the board. After several months on negotiations back and forth we are very pleased. She is hull #6, presently named Lion's Paw and being renamed to Breath of Heaven. She will be in St. Petersburg, Fl until we can get a slip in Clearwater. This is clearly the wrong time of year to be looking for a slip in west Florida. I think I must be on 7 or 8 waiting lists. The first project on the todo list is the replacement of the holding tank. Which upon inspection appears to be about 1/3 5200 and 2/3 aluminum. I received a drawing of the tank from Hunter and intend to send it to Peggy to see what they can come up with in poly tank. Anyway, I'm sure as I get into some of the systems I'll be back here bothering the other P42 owners for experiential learning. But for now the champagne calls. Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to all, Steve Watford

Way Cool! Congratulations.

I remember how excited and proud I was when I got my new boat. All of us can appreciate your excitment. Have a ball. Some of the best fun I have had is just working on the boat and tinkering to get it just the way I want it. Good luck and good sailing. Wynn Ferrel S/V Tranquility

Welcome A Younger Sister

You will love every moment! My hull number is 008 and she is the envy of most of other sailors in the marina. Hunter were still putting a lot of TLC in at the time our toys were being built. I changed my holding tank this summer after a lightning strike and got the hoses replaced at the same time. Everything runs smoother now. Perhaps a good investment as the tank will be out. Keep checking this page for lots of good ideas. Welcome aboard. Shanna & Walter Lucas Rejuvenator

Hey...what a great Xmas gift!

A little early, but who cares? Congratulations on the new boat. I know getting our new boat was one of the most exiting days of my life, so I certainly know how you feel. Good Luck. Mark Johnson

the 42 was the first big boat I ever chartered...

and I was scared to death of its size. I had reserved a Hunter 32 in Miami to take customers out for a daysail. When we arrived, all they had was a 42. What a blast to sail, motor and play with all the stuff, etc. The only real scare was going under the Rickenbacker causeway where we had about 2' clearance. I was sure it was going to hit. I was the only person on board with sailing experience and until then, the largest boat I had ever sailed was a 27 footer. The Hunter 42 will always have a special place in my sailing memories....and maybe the future if the Admiral agrees. Congratulations!

A great boat

And its so easy to sail. I take it out alone a couple times a year and dock it stern first [with some help from a few kind soles hanging around the dock]. Get the Autohelm 6000 or 7000 and get a remote control. Really makes it even easier to sail. You can sit on the sundeck with wife and kids or sit forward and still be in control.

Need any Crew?

I'm jealous (oh no, boat/mast envy) but extend the most sincere congratulations! Wish you the most fun ever, and if you ever need some crew for some coastal cruising or "whatever".....you know where we all are, no? Jay

New Holding Tank

I replaced the tank on my Passage 134.Contact the company that originally made it they can make you a heavier guage tank that is plastic lined for app. $175. Removing the old one is easy Use a machete and saw through the foam holding the tank in place. Remove old and replace with new tank and foam in with Tuff-Stuff. If you install a tank watch be careful and locate switch hole well starbord of the baffel. The new tank guage will require drilling and tapping. P.S. The company no longer makes tanks for Hunter Marine. They informed me that they make tanks for Island Packets and they use the hevier guage for them where Hunter installed the lghtest guage
