Splicing wires
If it's simply a 3 conductor wire, there's no reason you can't splice it. If it is shielded that can be a little more complicated, but still doable. Remember you're in harsh environment, I wouldn't recommend simple crimp connectors and electrical tape. All the connections should be soldered and shrink wrapped to prevent corrosion and water intrusion. I've added a web site with every piece of electronic / connector / all things electrical... They'll definately have what you need. The only problem is, they have too much stuff and it may take a while to find what you're looking for. If it's a common everyday connector, you may just be able to go to Radio Shack and pick it up. Another option is to just pull the pins on the connector, if you have a pin puller or the connector is even a type where you can pull the pins, and reinsert them once the wire has been pulled through. Just make sure you stick them back in the right holes. Good luck.
