Hey Peter, been offline for a few days. You asked about winter sails; there are those listed on www.cyfc.com, but on my own I'm thinking two... My last stretch of the Florida Gulf to explore is from Pt. Richey to Port St. Joe, aka the "Big Bend". Right now I'm planning it for the last week of October, arriving in Apalachicola for their seafood festival Nov 1-2. I will have a haul out in Port St. Joe waiting. I recently took two days driving the area, researching the ports along the way, and have a tentative sail plan. I've asked in this forum for any local knowledge with no response, so if anyone has any, please share your Big Bend experience. Once completed I'll have bragging rights from Pensacola to the Dry Tortugas. I'm thinking about a two week sail in February (this will be a marathon, since my overnight record is ten) I'll call my "South Florida Circumnavigation", starting in the Kissimmee River, to Okeechobee, out the West Palm canal, then south, round the Keys into Florida Bay at Long Key, then up the Gulf to Ft. Meyers to enter the Caloosahatchee back to Okeechobee and the Kissimmee River. I have more in the dream locker, but it's best to plan what's coming up. Thanks for asking, Peter. Care to sail along?
