4JH2E belated response
Thank you Phil Herring for coming to my defense. I'm having a little trouble keeping track of which posts I have answered. The forum seems to keep growing and we, in Michigan, are about to see the fan turned on. WAY, WAY too early for bad injectors. If you did have an injector fail prematurely, it might have been one or two, certainly not four at the same time. If some contaminant caused a problem, you would probably have injector pump problems too. I doubt if Yanmar will offer any financial help. The way the warranty system works is that we dealers MUST get approval prior to doing any warranty work. You did not get the approval and probably did not have an injector problem. You should take your spares to a competent injector service shop and have them tested. They are probably OK. They will most likely be returned with protective caps on all openings. Place them in a stout Ziplock bag and keep them for spares, especially if you plan to dispose of KFC oil through yoyr engine. The recommended antifreeze is the new Extended Life formulation that meets th GM Dex-Cool specs. As for Mobil 1, I wouldn't waste the money. The biggest problem with any oil in a diesel application is the dirt it collects. You have to change it from time to time. You do want to use an oil that meets the specs for diesel use. A 15W-40 oil with API specs CH-4, CG-4, CF-4 and CF/HJ is what you want. I would personally stay away from "Bio-Diesel". I don't know that much about it but I do know that a quality diesel fuel has all the right properties to keep a Yanmar engine running, trouble free, for a long time.Consider too, how much will you save by using recycled oil when you have only accumulated 650 hours? It may not amount to enough to defray the cost of the Mobil 1. In the meantime, stay away from Uclulet.
