Hey Gang, Just a note to inform you all that Ursa Minor has grown to 28'. We found a 1985 O'day 28 in Oriental, NC that was too good to pass up. 31 days on the ICW and just under 1,000 miles has her down in Key Largo. The trip was uneventful for the most part except for getting caught by tropical storm Allyson the second night out. I know that it sounds very unseaman like to make the first time you leave the dock the beginning of a 1,000 mile trip,(it was blowing too hard to leave the dock the day we bought her) but that's just how good of condition she was in. The boat performed flawlessly and turned out to be everything we had hoped for. She is a shoal draft keel that ony draws 3'8". I don't think very many of this version were made as I have never seen any specs that give this option. We have spent the last three weekends stripping out the entire below decks in order to sand and varnish the interior wood and replace the hull liner with ash ceiling. The holding tank and all the hoses didn't like the Florida heat (PEE U) so that is being replaced also, along with all new cushions. Nothing like taking a perfectly good boat and... The wife says this is the last one so I had better get it right from the start. I'm looking forward to your continued support and advice as we progress through THE PROJECT. Aboard Ursa Minor, PM

Congrats Cap'n Paul...

Says alot about O'Day quality that owners seek out newer/bigger O'Day's when moving up. I'm sure your upgrades will go just fine. I like the ash ceiling project. Nice touch. I'm curious how you found her? What resources did you use to locate the boat? Keep us abreast of the upgrades and hope you put many miles under her keel. Take care. Don
