Help!

I lost my gin pole and I neet to lower my mast for a sailing trip into the mountains. I totally forgot about this. Tomorrow she comes out of the water.

My question is this. I read on the H260 site that the length of the pole is 8' 2". What I don't know is;

1) size of the wire rope (diameter)
2) length of wire rope, although I don't believe that is critical.

I just purchased 1/8" wire rope with eyelets and clamps but it looks a little light now that I got it home. Can someone check what the wire rope size is for me. Greatly appreciated.

Can't help with your query, but since you are time limited, why don't you just drop the mast the old fashioned way without the pole?!? Recruit a few good sized friends and offer them a beer to help!

Thanks Brad, I guess the mast will come down easy enough, but then I'm on the road and will have to raise it at my destination in BC. That's my dilema. I raised it a couple months ago with my spinniker pole and it slightly bent the locking clip. I'm very nervous using that again.

Ideas...Give this a try do it the old fashion way but use the wind at your back. Plus on my old m-26 to steady the mast from going side to side I would tie a line about 5' up down to either side of mast to the deck. I had eyelits abeam of mast at the deck but the chain plates or jib sheet block could work. I am sure you can figure the rest out.

Not sure of the wire size but 1/8 should be fine. If you do not have the right heavy duty nicro press, then go to a yard that has one or simply buy one for future use as I carry that all the time. Make sure you put two sleeves on each end. Have fun my friend.
