Help with the plastic trim around the hull?

I have an '83 Catalina 27. There's a piece of plastic trim that usually inserts into the metal bracket/holder and goes all the way around the hull of the boat. Well, the plastic is old and pretty inflexible and somehow came out of the holder. It's very difficult to get back in... any suggestions???

hair dryer?

Though you must be extremely careful around water, a hair dryer might soften it up enough to shove it back in.LaDonna

Replace deck-joint vinyl trim

I replaced the vinyl trim around the hull of my Catalina 34. Use a hairdryer and do it on a warm day. Let the roll of vinyl sit in the sun for a couple of hours and then just push it in with a fairly rigid plastic puddy knife, from West Marine. Took my wife and I about 3 hours to do the job. Order the vinyl from Catalina Yachts. I live in Los Angeles so I went to the factory and Marvin was very helpful in parts; told me how to do it.
