Hi All,
I've got a 79 Hunter 30 that I finally will have hauled out of the water tomorrow for what is likely her first bottom job in 20 years. I bought this boat about 4 years ago from a guy that was using it as a beach house. Since then I've swapped the yanmar for a 2Qm15 and attempted to make slight improvements. I got a bonus that the wife doesn't know about so the old girls is coming out of the water and I'm dropping the mast. I've already replaced the halyards but nothing else on the mast(lights) work. I want to replace all the lights, wiring, as well as place a small profile VHF antenna while the mast is down. I plan to go LED with all lights and add two deck flood lights to the spreader if the budget will allow. I will be working on the mast next weekend and would be grateful for any suggestions in terms of the best wiring setup. I really don't want to chase an in mast short later. Also, if anyone knows a good place to order LED light from at a great price I'm all ears. Thanks for any advice that can be given.

Drop separate new wires for each light. Solder every terminal connection and splice then cover with shrink tubing, tape. Take the time to - over do - each fitting. Eliminate unnecessary splices. Allow a few feet of extra wire to make connections easier. After completion give yourself an extra day to go over everything before putting the mast back up.
