Help with some rigging questions-17' spindrift

new to this and could use some advice. just purchased a spindrift sailor 1 and have stepped the mast like I can tell from an internet manual. the seller did not know what two additional cables were (looped on one end with a clevis on the other) for. Doesn't look like this boat incorporates a back stay? Could the addtional cables be additional side stays?

split backstay? sheer speculation. try tp google additional images of yyour model for clues....

The DS I does not have a backstay, and Class rules prohibit a trapeze.
I am pretty sure that the Spindrift DS I did not have lower shrouds (sidestays), but someone may have added them, even then they should have had clevis fittings at the top and turnbuckles at the bottom. How long are these cables? I am drawing a blank as to their function, but they must have served some purpose.........
