Help with Boom Lines

We are incredibly new to sailing. Bought a Hunter 27, 1980. The lines to the boom are tough to pull and we know they should pull smoothly and easily. Does anyone have a diagram of how the boom lines should look?

Maybe your lines are to big. H27 should have 3/8 to 7/16 size. Someone might have added new lines that are to big to pull through.

Checked size and it's fine...the boom lines go up and down in a near W pattern. Anyone got any other ideas? Diagrams?
