I recently purchased a Grampian 26 which came with a Port-A-Pottie. To comply with Canadian regulations, I plan to convert it to a permanent head, with a holding tank and a Y-valve direct discharge for when not in a non-discharge zone. I am looking for suggestions on how and where to install a reasonable holding tank. Thanks, John G.

I would suggest the following -
In our G-26 we replaced the head and holding tank with a large capacity fixed "portapottie". It gives us 62 flushes which is more than the originally factory installed holding tank would allow. Easy to mount into place, never any odours, has air vent tube for vent, has pump out piped to Grampian deck installed fitting. Check the archive here on this site - type in "permanent mounted portapotties" and you will find a large amount of information on this very topic. BTW - I am not aware of any non-discharge zone anywhere within close to a thousand miles of your location so don't even think about it. Cheers, JimQ26 G-26 #583 Sam's Closin'time

My 26 has a holding tank installed on the centerline under the V-berth in the bow. There is plenty of room under there, and mine has not caused any problems with performance in that location. This arrangement still allows for plenty of storage. If you would like, I can take a picture of this arrangement this weekend when I launch mine and send it to you. It gives 62 flushes which is more than the orginally supplied Grampian waste holding tank would allow. It was easy to mount in place, never any odour, has air vent tube, has pump out piped to the deck mounted pump out fitting. BTW - forget the direct discharge valve - you are not within a thousand kilometres of a place that you can legally dump overboard. Cheers,
