I'm looking to do some woodworking down below. I have a 1986 HUNTER31 What type wood veneer is below and what shade of stain. It currently apears deep rich reddish shade .thanx, Alan
that does not really mean too much. There are many different colors of teak. You will just need to test the color on some samples of wood.I installed some drawer assemblies in the port settee and only used varnish. What type of wood are you starting with?
Alan, I'm sure its teak veneer. I did some wood working on my 1989 vision 32 when I installed the AC. I matched the redish veneer finish with a dark teak plywood and cherry wood stain then I sealed it. You can't tell the new wood from the old. Hope this helps.Jim
Sand the wood down and try varnishing instead of staining. Once it's stained, it's stained. But the varnish will present rich, deep wood grain. Because the wood is below deck, the sun won't ruin the varnish. Try it on a test strip.
