does anyone know of a USA supplier (or one in toronto CA) for a metric propshaft? i'll take 316, monel or even aquamet -- i don't care. i have worn the buttons off the cellphone talking to machine companies and marine suppliers that ' dont do metric' and 'dont have any source for the metric p/shaft stainless material..'

on the hard, until i can get a new p/shaft

30 mm dia x 1500 mm long to ISO 4566 with aft 1:10 taper , standard key and nut..

i'd even drive to toronto canada to pick one up ???
since the boat was made in finland, that's a bit far...

Should be easy to make one.
Call Aerospace Alloys in Connecticut. They have a centerless grinder with bar feed attachments and can grind down a 6 or 12 foot bar to whatever size you want. Then just machine the ends at a machine shop. They also have a straightening machine so you can get the bar straight within maybe .001 or .002 runout.

I spoke with Bristol Marine located in Port Credit, just outside of Toronto.
They buy their prop shafts from the US ! His recommendation was to use 1 1/4" and change the cutlass bearing.
His supplier is Henry H Smith located in Michigan, who can likely also modify a standard shaft to fit your prop.
Hope this helps.

You might also try E&C Marine here in Toronto. Talk to Charles ( The "C" in the name)
I just bought a 1" shaft from them and Charles seems like the kind of guy who can find solutions to most things. Metric isn't all that foreign to us up here- being as how we have been on the metric system for some 30 years! E&C number is 416 363 7770

Seconding this suggestion. (I apprenticed with E&C last year for the spring, and I remain in contact). Charles found a machine shop near Toronto that could reliably supply shafts.

email for E&C

Beneteaus made in Marion, SC have metric shafts. Where do they get them from?
