Put in on saturday and noticed water coming in from what appears to be the port side from galley back. The seacocks all are good with no leaking. Does not leak unless underway either by sail or motor. No leak in harbor. Also noticed a bad exhaust leak that I cannot find. Could the two be conected? The water comes in at a rate that switches the bilge on every twenty minutes or so.

Learn to swim.

Does you boat leak only when the engine is running? If so check exhaust risers and mufflers and the rest of the cooling system. Also check the stuffing box. Bob

leak

You might want to locate the water muffler and see if the drain pet cock is still open from when the muffler was drained over the winter. If open, it would give you exhaust and water. Worth a look.

LEAK

Check to hose between the riser or muffler and the transom. may be loose or cracked. Bob

leak check

First check the water in the bilge to see if it is coming from inside the boat (from your holding tank). Is it salty?.....If its salty then its not your tankage. Next, time the water leak to see if comes in faster with the engine off or on. If it comes in faster with the engine on, tissue paper all your hoses to see which gets wet first, then replace that hose......My bet would be the hose that connects the mixing elbo to the muffler.(It seems the most prone to failure). good luck Gary

FIXED

The leak was from rudder packing gland. Just a tightened and fixed.Yeh for Catalina Customer Service, they led me right to the problem!

check your sink drain hose connections

This is probably less likely than engine leaks, but worth a try. We had been quite puzzled with water in bildge after sailing in heavy wind. Finally found our head sink full of seawater one day and water to be leaking through a bad sink drainbasket to hoze connection. When healed past 20 degrees the sinks and their drain hoses are actually below waterline. Solution is to close those thru hulls when sailing in heavy weather, and fix leaky drainbasket/hose connections.
