Merry Christmas to all! The 3M site recommends putting a Scotch-Weld structural primer EC-1945 B/A on the metal prior to application of the adhesive/sealant 5200. Apparently, the primer is no longer being made, and can only be bought in 6 quart sized can lots. Very expensive. Does anyone have one quart to sell, or any other ideas about priming the metal keel prior to adhesive placement? Many thanks, Eric

The only place you would use 5200 on a keel,
would be in the keel to hull joint. I have never
heard of any primer being used.

Why not ask 3M what it actually does. It could be juse a simple acid etch primer or similar so they may be able to recommend a suitable alternative.

Also specify whether you have a lead or cast iron keel. You are not depending on the 5200 to keep things together just to keep the water out.
