My hull has a hairline crack along the lip that prutrudes from the bottom of the transome. The crack is serveral inches long and very thin. It is in the middle of the lip at the very bottom of the transome. Anyone seen this before? Crazy Dave should I just grind this out and fill with epoxy? Anyone? Help! Frank Hunter 23.5

I had the same problem...............

I bought the boat with a hairline crack that ran across the entire lip and was 1/4 to 1/2 inches deep. It appears its on a joint of some type. I had it ground out, refilled with fiberglass and then gelcoated. It's holding up fine. I suspect epoxy will work also, but be sure to get the crack wide and deep enough so as to get a good tight seal. Good luck. Have you noticed any water leaking in as yet? I didn't have any obvious leakage but didn't like the idea of a crack on the transom below the water line. Hayden
