Help! When I run the diesel (MD6B) the combo unit leeks at what I
think is the stem gland you need to add grease to stop the leaking.
What do I need to fix the problem and is there any were closer then
England to get the parts I need.1972 V1591

Dear Vega friend,

In the past , some 15 years ago!, I had the same problems. The system
which the Albin wharf used is not a good one at all.

The gland is wearing out and there is a thinning of the copper shaft,
thru which the water leaks. The stern tube has been replaced by a
stainless steel driving shaft and a new grease cup.
Since then I have only a few liters of water that gets into the Vega
after some months. This can be easily be pumped out by a good manual or
electrical centrifugal water pump, which I installed in the self draining
cockpit.

I hope my navigational english is understandable to you.
