HELP!!! I purchased an O'Day 25 this summer. Very Good condition considering her age. Swing keel on a trailer. I have yet to put her in the water. Living in CT we had some funky weather this winter and the boat took on some water. I know this because it took the shape of a bubble on either side of the keel aft of the centerboard. I started to poke around now that the weather is warming up and have discovered this portion of the keel to be saturated. I took a hole saw and drilled in on either side about an inch or so and this seemed to relieve the water somewhat. But with the amount of water that seems to be present I am not sure what to do next. Also I have no idea how it got there, what path it followed. I welcome any advise on this. Thank you.

What you have is a keel/centerboard. Not a swing keel. The old Catalinas and Venture MacGregors had a swing keel. If you could take some pictures of the area and post them, we may be able to offer some kind of a solution. At any rate, if the damage is contained on just the centerboard which is fiberglass construction, you may be able to remove and repair it. If the damage is in the keel which is lead, I'm not sure but someone else may be able to offer a solution to this problem. So try to get some pictures if you can.

What size is bubble? It could be blister or delamination and shaped by freezing water in keel.
Either way, it is fixable, with work. However, the amount of fixing will depend on cause. I recommend searching archives for a copy of Joe's directions on how to remove centerboard. Removing centerboard will allow inspection inside centerboard well. You may have hole inside which is cause of water
intrusion.
After we see pictures, we may be able to recommend how to repair.
