MY boat has been out of the water for two years, then it was in the water from December to May9th when I had the boat hauled to do the bottom. I was drilling a hole to put in a bilge drain water was coming out of the hole I drilled, and I thought I hit the bilge. Not the case, I didn't reach the bilge yet and I had water coming out of the hull? The hull is wet soaked is more like it. Any ideas on how to get the water out? Should I drill more holes and drain it? The hull is stripped down to the fiberglass the plan is to dry the boat put epiglass on then barrier coat, then bottom paint but I am not sure if I should drain the water or just try drying the hull. The boat is 45 foot 6 foot draft full keel.

Sounds like this would be cored hull? I would get a couple of experts to look at it. just drying will not work with a cored hull. You have to get the water out and make sure the core is not compromised, and then figure out where the water is getting in. Hate to say it but this could be a big issue. If it is in the core a barrier coat will do nothing to solve the issue.

We are repairing a Lagoon 400 keel that was soaked. We hot vacuumed it and the core is now dry. Borrow a vacuum pump and apply vacuum to the area with holes while applying heat (halogen lights work well).

West Systems (Goguen Brothers Inc), has a procedure for "Repairing Core Related Damage", which I have used successfully, also with the cooperation with Smith Systems Epoxy (see also Jamestown Distributers), which sets even if moist environment (West Systems requires a dry environment), but that was "just" a 3 x 3 foot cabin top under mast step issue with wet core and delamination.

I suppse you know the difference between water flow and water-if-contained-in-a-blister ??

The other question that begs an answwer, I think, is how would the water get in, inbetween the double hull (is it fresh or salty or contaminated with polyester resin? (If salty, it shoud respond to an ohm meter, whereas pure fresh water doesn't conduct (low conductance) as easily.

I forget the name of the tool, but when Iwas checking for wetness I borrowed a friends meter which indicates the relative degree of water in things like cabin tops and hulls.
