in nearly all idler pulleys, the bearing can be tapped out and new ones installed... the bearings should have numbers on them, or they can be measured after removal for an easy identification.
... the exception is where the idler pulley happens to be the belt tensioner pulley, and the spring mechanism fails.... the pully bearings can be replaced, but if the spring mechanism fails you are SOL, and a new one is required.

Yanmar has a very protective territory agreement with it's dealers. Offshore Marine is the Yanmar authorized parts dealer for St Thomas USVI. Located at 8185 Subbase St. The order needs to be placed and if the part is not available at a warehouse in the US to them or any other domestic dealer then it will be ordered from Japan. Additional shipping charges may apply for expedited shipping services. The other closest parts dealer would be at the BVI but I suspect they also get their parts from the US. Diesel engine mechanics in the Islands are pretty adept at substituting or modifying parts so check so suggest to your friend to check with a few mechanics to see if any has a fix.

According to Bosun's Locker in Costa Mesa, the regional distributor for Yanmar in Southern California, the part has to be ordered out of Europe b/c the US warehouse in Georgia does not have it in stock. It's only a $55 part; 2nd-day air delivery would add about $40, but the lead time is 7 to 9 days to get it to Costa Mesa; I don't know how long to St. Thomas. I suppose they could drop ship to your location. However, yes--it's true about sales territory agreements that BE mentioned. None of the local dealers I contacted have it in stock.:( The P/N is 129271-77660, so I was told. Good luck!
