I have to move out of state next weekend, and I need to get rid of my boat. Can't seem to give it away. I tried to donate it but was told it wasn't worth the cost. What can I do to get this boat gone from my neighbor's pier before I leave? I don't care about making any money off it, I just need it gone pronto.

I once donated a 25 footer to a sailing club....scouts or other group is just as well. When we bought our house there was a boat at the pier left by the p.o. (I didn't want another boat.) The p.o. found a guy who came 'round and collected it, put it on a trailer with some others and shipped them somewhere. Not to useful to you, I know, but maybe an ebay/Craigs list post? Sometimes it's easier to get rid of things by selling them than for free. Some folk don't trust "free."

There is a huge glut of old fiberglass boats in the world right now. Many of them have zero or negative economic value. Most Sea Scout outfits (and their like) are sitting on more than they want or can handle. This problem is going to get worse before it gets better.

I've thought about scuttling mine too. Hard to sell old boats right now...
