The new H290 is great except for the sail cover. With the bimimi up, I have to climb the arch and fight with one hand for me (to hold on), one hand and teeth to hold the cloth to start the zipper, hold the pvc pipe sail cover supports together and to close the cover. In other words, I need four hands. I have to swing the boom over and play gymnast. This really must be a great sight to every one else after I brag how great the Hunter(stack) Pac is. Any suggestions or tricks short of taking the bimimi down? p.s. even with the bimimi down it is a reach to get to the Hunter Pac zipper. thanks s/v THE TOY

290 Cover

Dan, I like the stack pack, but you are right that getting the zipper started is very interesting...and I don't have a bimini in the way. If it is real calm on the water, I climp the arch and get my legs right under the boom to get things started. Otherwise, I just let it all sit there until back at the dock. I can't imagine how you manage with a bimini in the way. Wish I had a solution for you. S/V Feije

On my 320......

When I first got the boat, I would pull the boom all the way over to port or starboard then unizip the bimini to get access to the zipper. I found that it was just as easy (although more dangerous) to hang outside the bimini frame to get to the zipper. I only do this on the lake if there is little to no waves. I think a much better design would be to start the zipper at the mast and pull it back to the end of the boom, of course now you have the problem of how to unzip the cover. Regards. Bruce. That !!*?/*@!#! Zipper

Hi, Dan. That zipper accessibility issue is the same on our H340. Do you have the traveler on top of the arch? We do, and we run the traveler all the way over to one side. Then we climb the outside of the arch and zip it up. Depending upon conditions and where we are doing the deed (perferably secure at a mooring in calm water) we may use a harness and tether to allow safe (more or less) use of both hands. Then on our boat as we zip it up toward the mast there is this gap of about a foot or so that can't be reached really safely from either the arch or the cabin top..... Carl and Jule s/v 'Syzygy'

Gave up

Putting the cover on our 380 was so hard and dangerus. I had to sit on the boom and scoot forward as I zipped. After 2 years the zipper started to get stuck with loose treads and the stitching came loose so we had a regular style sail cover made its still hard to put on around the bimini but I can do most of it standing.
