I found myself the owner of an O'day 30 retractable keel sailing boat last year after my Father sadly passed away. He had left Blighty to live in Florida onboard his boat and enjoyed travelling the east coast and beyond.
The boat was left on a free anchorage and although I have no experience nor the money to keep her I didnt sell her then when I had the chance. I live in England and it's along way and costly to go visit her.
Anyway, after a year by herself I arranged for someone to go stay on her and tidy her up for sale. There have been some problems!
She was left alone last week and in a storm broke free. She was towed to a marina safely thank goodness. The engine has just been started after a year and I am being told that there is a now major leak from the propshaft.
Does anyone know if there is a quick or temporary fix for this? Or does the boat need hauled to investigate?
I'm also looking to get her sold ASAP now as I cant deal with problems 2000 miles away. Where's the best place to advertise her and would anyone want her in the poor condition she is in now? Am I better spending a couple of thousand dollors and bringing her back to a good condition before sale?
