Well I was rigging up the mast today and my upper spreader cracked...see pic. Any thoughts would be appreciated. I have contacted Hunter and they forwarded me to the mast manufacturer.

The photo seems to show a welding pattern 2-3" above the broken piece. It may be possible to cut off the entire lower item, manufacture a new one, and have it welded back on.
Either that or look around the net for sailboat junk yards that have an H34.
try don's salvage in clearwater fl..... send them an email with a pic and see if he has anything in is mast parts you might get lucky ....if not that can be welded...but it needs to be a 100% penetration weld ...meaning it has to be fiited bak together and then ground out on one side then weld the bevel ...then grind out the other side till you reach the new weldment and fill it back up with multiple passes till it whole again then grind to original shape
Good job Woodie! I was pretty sure it could be welded but was waiting on you. Does not look like a problem if done as you recommend. Yes, I have a BA degree minor in metal too but does not make me a welder! ha Chief
Had mine break last month while installing new rigging. Keys Rigging had it welded overnight, but the part warped. Cracked again and they had it done right, alignment bored and worked fine! Don't be afraid, just follow the above advice and get a good welder to fix it!
