Does anyone have a spare waste cap that will fit a 1980 H37C deck fill that I can purchase? I broke mine and it looks almost impossible to replace the complete unit without cutting a new access hole in the shower. Everything I have read on the web indicates that the caps were 16 tpi in those years but are now 12tpi. The one that broke is approximately 1.75" in diameter and made of plastic. Has anyone replaced the entire fill unit? I would like to know how you did it.

Thanks,
Jerry

I had the same problem...

1980 boat with all deck fills 16 tpi, but could only find 11 tpi replacement caps...and that was 10 years ago I called every retailer, wholesaler and importer in the industry...nobody had one. Finally ended up replacing the whole deck fitting.

You may get lucky...but if I were you I'd start figuring out how to gain access too it.

Afterthought... You might try contacting some plastic fabricators to see if one of 'em could machine a threaded PVC plug for you. It wouldn't be pretty but should be cheap.

I recently relaced my cap with an off-the-shelf model. (Threads were totally corroded.) My deck fill caps are metal so maybe they are not original.

Uh oh, nasty problem. Did you unscrew the deck fill yet? If there is enough hose it is easily replaced from above. But there has to be enough slack to pull it out where you can work on it. You can probably get it off with some heat. Getting it back on will be almost impossible if you can't get it above deck.

Where is the other end? If from the tank under the shower seat then no dice. If you still have the Y-valve arrangement in the starboard v-berth then no problem. Just remove it there and pull it out on deck. Install new and shove it back down.
