The wheel on my O'Day 31 turns alot more in one direction than the other. I was going try to correct this by looking at how the cables on the Edson system work. Before doing so can anyone tell me if the way it operates is correct and why. Secondly if the adjustment is necessary any hints as to where to start. Thanks

Here We Go

See how many revolutions there in your wheel from port stop to starboard stop and split the difference, ie: three turns from stop to stop, back up 1 and 1/2 turns and mark that at the top of your wheel and then lock or tie the wheel. Check the position of your rudder, it it's not dead center of the transom, you've got some adjusting to to. Mine has turnbuckles on the rudder cables for the adjustment, It would be hard to say how yours is set up. The rudder will have to be adjusted to center by manipulation of the cables, whatever that takes, but it's all in the cables. If you haven't been under there yet, it will probably be pretty obvious when you get get a look at it. It's probably going to be a tight squeeze and a little cumbersom. Luck!
