Helm Deck Soft

Have a 2006 H36. The removable deck below the helm (and extending aft to the swim platform) is soft. I am assuming that this is the result of water seepage around the emergency tiller access. Has anyone experienced this before? Is it something I can fix myself? I should mention that I am pretty handy but have zero experience with fiberglass. Thanks.

Curious, I talked to a friend of mine last night with a 49 who had just this problem from just that source repaired. He did not do it himself. The Tech added a reinforcing stringer also.I intend to check the bedding on mine next time I'm at the boat.

On my Hunter 49 it was $500, Hunter wanted $750 for a new one plus crate and Shipping to the west coast. It would have been over $1000. Water leaked in around the Tiller access, resealed under the plate. The core de laminated and had to be replaced and glassed in and repainted. My guy did a great job.
