Hello all,

I'm Ed and my wife Lori and I are relatively new (owned for a few years but not sailed all of them) owners of a very well kept 1983 O'Day 25. We have named her "INITIUM," Latin for Beginning.

We bought her from the Hudson River Nautical Museum on Roundoubt in Kingston. Sailed her as she was for a couple years and now we are doing "some work" on her to freshen up and or improve.

We are doing the work ourselves and since we suffer amateur status on this topic find it slow going but anticipate it being worth the efforts.

We live in Oneonta, NY and sail Otsego lake in Cooperstown, just up the road.

We REALLY look forward to learning this whole sailing/ ownership thing.

If you are ever headed our way say hi.

Hi Ed and Lori!
Welcome to the forum. I think that we're all neophytes when it comes to working on boats, but this is part of the fun of owning a boat. I was never afraid to drill a hole here or cut a board there on my boat since I bought it new in the boat show. I think that it's important to modify your boat to fit your preferences and likes. I've learned a lot on this forum and was always happy to pass on some of my own knowledge to others in need. Have a great sailing season and please visit us often.
Joe

Thanks for the kind words.
I just created a couple albums to sink some photos into.
I have spent hours reading through the site and I look forward to asking a lot of questions.

Later.
